Munduk, in the Morning
By Des Res Bali
Up in Munduk, mornings can feel a world away from Bali below. The air is cooler and cleaner, the mountains disappear into layers and layers of green, and for once, a hoodie feels entirely reasonable.
This was during the strange quiet of the Covid years—some of our favorite years in Bali. The air smelled of incense, jasmine and frangipani, with offerings being laid somewhere nearby. Then the sun caught the statue and made that perfect little sunburst. And for a few minutes, everything felt suspended.
