Alchemy Uluwatu | The OG Raw Food Haven Grows Up

By Des Res Bali

Film by Des Res Bali

We remember when Alchemy was a tiny Ubud counter where the co-founder, Shanti, greeted you with a smile and handed over what was, at the time, the most mind-blowing raw dessert on the island. Fast-forward a decade and some change, and the OG of Bali’s raw food scene has gone full grown-up, with lush new outposts in Canggu and Uluwatu (Bingin area). There’s also now a Yoga & Meditation Center and a plant-based culinary school, Alchemy Academy – both highly regarded.

The Uluwatu restaurant is a full-blown wellness playground: cold-pressed juices lined up like candy-colored jewels, a salad bar that deserves its own fan club, a bulk-goods section that’ll make your inner hippie swoon, and a gorgeous sun-dappled garden café that still feels true to its roots — casual, conscious, and quietly iconic. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend an afternoon grazing, smoothie-sipping, browsing the shop, and getting a little work (or reading) done.

They may have scaled up, but Alchemy still feels like that same home-grown Bali brand that started it all — only now with a few extra layers of wisdom, wellness, and reach.
