Sayuri, Ubud | A Vegan Café That Feels Like Home

Sayuri has been quietly doing its thing in Ubud for years — no fuss, no over-styled interiors, just good food, decent prices, and a vibe that makes you want to linger. Guitars lean in corners, kirtan sometimes floats from the back room, and there’s often a cooking class or small gathering unfolding.

The menu is plant-based but approachable. The dishes are thoughtful, tasty, and comforting — think hearty bowls, bright salads, satisfying desserts (the Snickers Bar is life changing), and the occasional “oh wow” snack from the little shop inside. There’s kombucha, kefir, dips, and even some local skincare products for sale. Prices here are reasonable for Ubud, which is still a rare treat in town.

Sayuri doesn’t try to be the trendiest vegan café on Instagram — and that’s exactly why it works. Linen-pants-wearing visitors rub elbows with locals who know the menu by heart. It’s lived-in, warm, and quietly joyful.

The desserts deserve a special mention: soft, indulgent, and always tempting enough to make you linger past lunch. Coffee is reliable, balanced, and paired with little biscuits or pastries that make it feel like a small celebration rather than a caffeine pit stop.
