Pesona Lounge, Ubud: Come for Dinner. Stay for Another Chai.
By Des Res Bali
Tucked along Goutama Street—one of our favourite streets in Ubud—Pesona Lounge sits on one of those rare little pockets that feels both cosmopolitan while still being unmistakably Ubud. There’s an urban village vibe here that’s surprisingly rare in Bali.
Think a little Los Feliz, a little Brooklyn, with independent cafés, people wandering between dinner and a film, scooters humming past, and the easy rhythm of Ubud. It’s colourful without trying too hard, cosy without feeling contrived, and the kind of place that makes “we’ll just stop for a chai” a wildly optimistic plan. If you’re catching a film at Paradiso Cinema beforehand, it’s about as perfect a post-cinema dinner spot as we can imagine.
The food was every bit as good as the room. The dosa arrived at approximately the length of a paddleboard (okay, half my leg—but I’m 5’11”), the tandoori tacos disappeared embarrassingly quickly, and even the chai came with tiny cumin-spiced shortbread biscuits that somehow stole the show. Add genuinely lovely staff and one of the best corners of Ubud for people-watching, and you’ve got a place we’d happily recommend to just about anyone.
