Where to Buy a Good Mattress in Bali (and Finally Sleep Like a Human Again)
By Des Res Bali

Bonus: Local frame & furniture tips included — because where your mattress lies matters too.
The Bali Bed Struggle (Spoiler: It’s Real)
You see a lot of beds in Bali. You feel them too.
Some mattresses are paper-thin—let your joints press into springs and regret your life choices. Others are decent but buried behind nondescript gates or showrooms far off the beaten path. And the worse ones? You only notice after three nights of stiff backs and restless sleep.
Your mattress matters more than your island view. In humidity, tropical climates, and irregular builds, choosing the right one is as essential as selecting your plot. Let’s get it right.
1. What We Swear By (Because We Sleep on It)
Heveya: Sleep without Compromise
We’ll admit it — we’re biased. We have a Heveya mattress, and it’s been a total game-changer. Somehow it manages to be firm without being stiff, soft without being saggy, and actually breathable in Bali’s humidity (a small miracle in itself). Whatever your bedtime ritual, better sleep really does make everything else feel easier — and Heveya absolutely delivers.
The eco bit matters, too. Their mattresses are made from organic latex, cotton, and bamboo — all grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Translation: it’s cleaner for you and kinder to the planet, which feels especially important on an island that’s still finding its rhythm with waste management.
And yes, the shopping experience is lovely. The showroom’s calm, beautifully designed, and they even hand you infused water while you test out beds. Very “Bali luxury meets common sense.”
If there’s one benchmark to aim for (in our humble optionion), this is it.
2. Retail & Mid-Range Options (When You Need a Plan B)
If a boutique mattress isn’t your game, these are your fallback options:
- Informa & IKEA: You’ll find practical beds and futons for guest suites or staff rooms here. We own a couple of Informa futons — they’re not luxury, but they work and they’re surprisingly comfy and great for guests. Plus, they make great little sofas, too. Informa also stocks brands like Serta and American Pillo, while Ikea has their own brands which, while not built to last an eternity, are great for guests or kids’ rooms.
There’s an Ikea in Kuta — check their website for location and store hours. Informa has multiple locations in Bali — please check their website for details.
- King Koil (MBG + partners):
The hotel-grade name you’ve heard often lives in Bali. Their boutique in Mal Bali Galleria (MBG) is legit, and their Indonesia site connects you to retail affiliates. And yes — they live up to the hype. We’ve slept on quite a few King Koil mattresses here while visiting hotels or staying with the rare friend who’s splurged on one for their guest room (we’re deeply grateful for those friends). King Koil is a premium option — comfortable, durable, and built to last. A solid choice if you want comfort, durability, and a mattress that feels a little indulgent.
3. Other Mattress Names Worth Checking
- Mimpi Mattress — popular in expat circles, good mid-tier option (check out their Instagram page for details @mimpisleep)
- Zees Mattress — more entry-level, but many locals vouch for them (check out their Instagram page for details @zees_mattress)
- American Pillo — reasonably priced and solid for everyday use (watch out for imitations of this brand as we’ve seen many imitations — check out their Instagram — embedded below — for certified resellers)
It’s always a good idea to check with retailers to confirm what stock they carry, as Bali inventory can be limited.
4. Bed Frames & Custom Bases (Because Mattress Without Support = Sad)
Here are some bonus but highly useful tips. We sprinkled in this section so anyone landing for mattresses also has some furniture foresight. But the heart is still mattresses:
- Java Pillar (Nusa Dua & Jl. Darmawangsa): These guys work in teak, suar, rattan, and they do custom frames. It’s rough and ready, and run by a really nice family that do a good job (they made our king sized rattan and teak bed frame, and we’ve been very happy with it. Find their details on their Insta, embedded below).
Tip: don’t just drop off simple sketches or vague wishes — precise dimensions will make or break your order (which is true across the board for customer furniture in Bali).
- Aditya Furniture: Aditya is another wood shop that does custom furniture builds. They’re a trusted local name with quality craftsmanship reputation, and we’ve heard good things, particularly in relation to the quality of the teak they use. Expect to pay a bit more than other local woodworkers, but not as much as the higher-end furniture showrooms in Seminyak and Kerobokan (check out their Instagram page for details @adityafurniturebalinew)
- Kerobokan Street Showrooms: There are way too many furniture showrooms to list here, and they’re always changing as well. The best thing to do is to just walk the stretch — you’ll find plenty of high-end showrooms with lots of beds, and while they tend to be pricier than the local woodwork shops, you’ll be able to shop with a lot more ease (and air con!). You can find out how beds are built, compare models side by side, and ask questions
5. What Makes a Mattress “Good” in Bali
Feature | Why It Matters | Pro Tip |
Thickness & Support | Too thin = you feel the springs. | Test by leaning, shifting, lying for several minutes. |
Breathability | Night sweat is real. | Prioritize latex or ventilated designs. |
Size Accuracy | Many homes have odd layouts. | Always confirm interior frame size and mattress cover dimensions. |
Warranty & Authenticity | Counterfeit or low-grade stuff is common. | Buy through reputable showrooms. |
Delivery & Setup | You don’t want to wrestle a mattress up stairs. | Confirm they install — many do in Bali. |
Pro tip:
As always in Indonesia, shop through official showrooms or trusted resellers — quality control can vary, and imitation products are surprisingly convincing.
If we were shopping tomorrow, this would be our battle-worn checklist:
- Try Heveya (benchmark).
- Visit King Koil MBG.
- For actual bed frames, walk through the Kerobokan showrooms — compare those next to Java Pillar.
- Measure your room, bring device photos, clarify delivery options.
- Lay down on your choice to test it out before pulling the trigger.
In Bali, you’ll want a mattress that ages gracefully, handles humidity, and still gives you mornings you don’t regret. When the bed becomes part of your story — not just a piece of furniture — you’ll know you’ve landed in the right one.
